This week was awfully concise in what it had to offer as learning and toward the projects that are upcoming. The all encompassing senior project was revealed and progress toward the completion of the project was started. The class chose the topic as well as what the project was actually going to be. My senior project is based around the idea of giving an increased opportunity to those who are interested in electronics and computer technology in the future. To do this I will be retrofitting the robotics system in the classroom for the purpose of an educational friendly environment. We also learned about the application of leadership toward the senior project. To my understanding, an actual leader is one who provides opportunities for others to fulfill their own individual potentials, like a president. This is a big thing for me because it's one of silent questions that I ask myself. This is also encompassed within my senior project. Link:www.ted.com/talks/drew_dudley_everyday_leadership

This week we started to straighten out our ideas and thoughts pertaining to our identity project. Working in a pair has really helped me in my learning and understanding this week because it brings in another opinion and is not just a reflection of my project formula. Our question is; "Is Resillience enough to break the stereotypes?". I chose this question because I am affected by stereotypes on a somewhat often basis. "The smart kid", "Nerd", "Geek", "Techy", "Gamer", Those are some of the words that are used to describe me and who I am. Although I am not a fat sofa ridden guy who had fingertips encrusted with cheeto/dorito dust, I take those words kindly because they are who I am. Sometimes the negative connotations than come with those stereotypes get in my head but it works out fine. They are just jealous. In explaining and organizing our notes and ideas, we used the cornell note taking strategy for identity, some text rendering and trait finding for some short stories, and finally a pre-write that brings all of the ideas together and gives us as a group a step-by-step for our presentation next week. This project is somewhat interesting, mainly because of the lack of direction and I am not so sure I enjoy it, although we do get a lot of freedom which I enjoy. Identity project preparation this week, presentation next, can't wait. Link:www.simplypsychology.org/katz-braly.html In the first we didn't really learn anything that new, although comprehension was a key topic. Daily routines and activities were hit hard in this week but not much was covered. Daily poems often created a point to inspire objective thinking and inspire intelligent thought processes. We did learn how to take a certain kind of notes that we can apply now and into the future. There wasn't much that we did but I understood what needed to be done with great fluency and ability. This week was not really a problem. Link:coe.jmu.edu/learningtoolbox/cornellnotes.html . Within this past week, the main topic was Identity and the power that comes with that. Identity encompasses not solely where someone comes from but who that person actually is. Identity is like looking into a mirror and not seeing your reflection but seeing a conglomeration of what your passionate and what is meaningful to you. The power that comes with a persons identity is overwhelming and makes a collection of people unique gives us all identification. The bowl of fruit is not who we are but encompasses what we are and that is what identity is. I understood this weeks topics but it opened my eyes just to how much identity applies to our lives and how much power it has. When you look into a yearbook, or at a group photo and point out which one is yourself, why is that you? Who is "you", when looking into the future or the past? And why? These are some of the questions that I have thought of throughout the past week. It has really been thought provoking. During the week we did miltiple exercises to get these types of ideas to fruition; creating lists of words pertaining to power and identity and then questions. The difference between learning and school is stark and extremely contrasting. Learning asks for questions while schooling asks for answers. Learning shows a coherent and competent understanding of a subject and aids with achieving that goal. Link:australianmuseum.net.au/blogpost/museullaneous/what-is-identity |
